I blame Dave Robison for this. He offered a few ideas over on G+ in response to my previous post, and one in particular started me thinking about new possibilities to promote this story that Zen and I finished.
For those curious, Broken is a near-future cybernetics adventure set in the divided city of Charlton, where Criofan Byrne waits to inherit Byrne Consolidated Securities while making a name for himself among the boxing circuit as well as with the ruthless Cabezas de Muerte gang. Miranda Garren lives in Charlton Terrace, where she has seen her parents and neighbors suffer at hands of the Cabezas all her life. When the leader of the gang forces Criofan into a life-changing decision, Criofan must rely upon Miranda’s skills and technological prowess to help them both survive their new lives in the Terrace.
The novel is 91,500 works, in eighteen chapters. It’s definitely a full-length novel.
Here’s my idea: ask seventeen different authors to each narrate a chapter for the podcast (of course, I’ll read one); that chapter/episode would be sponsored by that author’s book or podcast, and would give them additional advertising. The narrator for that week could provide a short 5 minute overview of their latest projects, where they can be found online, and what’s coming up for them in terms of titles and appearances. Show notes would link back to each episode’s narrator and projects.
What do you think? Would this work, and is it too much to ask from other authors/podcasters? Would folks be interested in the cross promotion? Could I find 17 different narrators interested in participating?
